13th Annual Dance to Make a Difference Charity Gala
Currently, our plans for the 13th Annual Dance to Make a Difference Charity Gala is on hold. Due to Washington State’s COVID-19 health guidelines, live performances will not be allowed until Thurston County enters Phase 4. Thank you to our patrons and community who continue to support the gala and non-profit beneficiaries year after year. We really appreciate you! We will announce plans for the gala when we are able to safely rehearse and perform for our community.
Connecting Our Community Through Dance and Philanthropy
The goal of the Dance to Make a Difference (DTMD) charity gala is to introduce the South Puget Sound audience to diverse creative works of dance companies from across the Puget Sound and raise funds for local charitable organizations. It is important for us to instill a tradition of volunteering and community involvement in our young dancers, supporters, and make the arts more accessible. We raise awareness for the charity throughout the year and donate performance tickets to the gala. Our families and dancers volunteer with the charity in activities such as food and clothing drives, monthly food packing for homeless youth, and family shelter cleaning parties. Working with local charities allows our dancers to have a direct positive impact on the lives of others in our community.
Proceeds from Dance to Make a Difference have benefited organizations such as Project Medishare, Hands on Children’s Museum, Boys and Girls Club, Homeless Backpacks, SafePlace, and Family Support Center of South Sound.

Staying Connected With DTMD Year-Round
After the stage lights are turned off at the end of our yearly performance, the ‘difference’ in Dance to Make a Difference comes alive.
As part of this, a website has been created for DTMD that we hope embodies the spirit of the event and the ongoing service of our amazing dancers and volunteers: dancetomakeadifference.org
On this site, families, friends, and the community outside of our dance world, wherever they may be, can donate and contribute to Dance to Make a Difference year-round. Donors can write a thank you note to their dancer or the organization and have it posted to the “Thank You Wall” on the site. If you have family out of town, feel proud to let them know that your dancer is making a difference and share this feature with them.
You’ll be able to stay informed on upcoming volunteer activities and events, and to let us know you’re interested in participating! Getting involved is rewarding and fun! Check out our blog to see how DTMD is making a difference in our community throughout the year.
